Reggie loading his chopped firewood to bring into the house (main house heated by a wood stove).

The most deer we've ever seen at one time in the pasture next to us: 7!

Deer are regular visitors around our house.

Charlie looking as cute and innocent as ever.

Charlie and Reggie in Reggie's big blue van.

Tiffany saying hello to a deer.

Sammy looking out at the forest.  This is his favorite perch.

Our deck overlooking the nature preserve behind our house.

Ruby getting a bath after rolling in deer poop -- unfortunately, it is her favorite "perfume".

Sammy looking quite handsome.

Tiffany resting with her tongue sticking out.

Reggie and Carol toasting on the train ride down to visit the folks in California in June 2011.

Our front steps

Ruby maintains her dignity when she sleeps.

Charlie is ready to come inside.

An "honor" farm stand at Island Meadow Farm.  It is an unmanned stand where customers can come by and shop for fruits, veggies, eggs and leave cash or check in the lockbox.

Waiting in line for the ferry.

Reggie saved this image from the online ferry traffic camera -- it's Carol driving down to catch the ferry (and that's Ruby's head out the window).

A cow peeking over the hedge at Sea Breeze farm, the organic farm down the street from us.

On the ferry at sunset.

Reggie, Charlie, and puppy Ruby posing on front steps.

View of south-end ferry terminal.

View from the south-end ferry of Mount Rainier.

Another "honor" stand in town -- this one sells bouquets.

These photos are taken at this year's annual Vashon Strawberry Festival in July.  This year it rained, but there was still a big turn out.  We bought a little hand-knit strawberry cap for the baby from the VIPP stand (Vashon Island Pet Protectors is the local animal rescue organization).

This is an example of the fencing people build around their gardens to deer-proof them -- the fences need to be 8 feet high.

A historic landmark and the oldest commercial building in downtown Vashon.  The Hardware Store is now a very tasty restaurant.

Treasure Island, an antique store on the island where Reggie likes to find cool old tools.

A labyrinth that people can walk on -- this one is carved into a grass lawn at the local Episcopal church and is an ancient tool for prayer and meditation.

Reggie and Charlie outside The Spice Route, a great Indian restaurant.

The Vashon Roasterie is a great coffee shop south of downtown.  They also sell loose teas and herbs, books, and a few groceries.  It is located at the only intersection on the island that has a traffic light!

Reggie and Charlie waiting outside the Vashon Bookshop.

Island Quilter, a store that Carol's mom loves.

This is one of the most popular bumper stickers on islander cars.
